Swimming Caps and Hoods
Why do freedivers wear swimming caps?
Freedivers use swimming caps to help in their quest for streamlining. Every metre gained by streamlining is a metre that is not physically worked for, it is gained by good body position and the use of smooth skin wetsuits and swimming caps. Freedivers with long hair also need it to keep their hair out of their face.
In colder waters, freedivers often use a wetsuit with a hood, or a seperate hood instead.
